* The public Conan Exiles Steam app becomes Conan Exiles Enhanced on May 5, 2026.
* The Conan Exiles Enhanced server reads your existing Legacy
game.db
save on first startup and writes a new save file.
* The original UE4 build remains available through the Conan-Exiles-Legacy branch.
* After that first startup, the new save file is no longer readable by the original Legacy server.
* Enhanced reads the UE4 Exiled Lands save database on first startup.
* Isle of Siptah is no longer a separate dedicated-server map. Siptah-only data files are not used by the Enhanced server.
* During first Enhanced startup, the server copies
ConanSandbox\Saved\game.db
to a UE5 save named
game_0.db
.
* The original Legacy build is still available as a separate Conan Exiles product on Survival Servers, pinned to the
conan-exiles-legacy
Steam branch so it stays on the classic version.
* After conversion,
game_0.db
is not readable by the UE4 Legacy server.
* Isle of Siptah is not launched as a separate UE5 dedicated-server map. Siptah-specific
dlc_siptah.db
data is not used by the UE5 server.

This guide covers moving a Survival Servers Conan Exiles Legacy server to Conan Exiles Enhanced.

What's different in Enhanced

 • The Conan Exiles Enhanced server reads your existing Legacy game.db save on first startup and writes a new save file.
 • After that first startup, the new save file is no longer readable by the original Legacy server.
 • Isle of Siptah is no longer a separate dedicated-server map. Siptah-only data files are not used by the Enhanced server.
 • The original Legacy build is still available as a separate Conan Exiles product on Survival Servers, pinned to the conan-exiles-legacy Steam branch so it stays on the classic version.

Before you migrate

 1. Make sure your source Conan Exiles Legacy server is using Exiled Lands, not Isle of Siptah. Move characters off Siptah first if needed.
 2. Stop the source Legacy server.
 3. Stop the target Enhanced server.
 4. Create or download a backup of the source server's ConanSandbox\Saved\ folder.
 5. Keep that Legacy backup until you have joined the Enhanced server and verified your characters, buildings, and settings.

The first Enhanced startup is a one-way conversion of the copied save. Do not delete your Legacy server or Legacy backup immediately afterward.

Easiest path: in-panel migration tool

If your Conan Exiles Legacy server and Conan Exiles Enhanced server are on the same machine and on the same Survival Servers account, the Enhanced control panel can copy the save for you.

 1. Open the Conan Exiles Enhanced server in the control panel.
 2. Find the Transferring from Legacy? alert and click Migration Tools.
 3. Confirm both servers are stopped (the dialog will tell you which one is still running and how to fix it).
 4. Pick your eligible Legacy source from the dropdown.
 5. Click Copy Save to Enhanced.
 6. Start the Enhanced server.
 7. Wait for the first Enhanced startup to finish converting the save.
 8. Join the server and verify in-game.

The migration tool refuses Siptah sources, running servers, servers with another active panel task, and servers on a different machine. If your source is on a different machine, see the next section.

Cross-host or self-hosted: upload your save

Use this path when your Legacy server lives somewhere else — another hosting provider, a self-hosted box, or a separate Survival Servers machine.

 1. Stop both servers (yours, and the Enhanced server you are moving to).
 2. Connect to the source Legacy server by FTP or its file manager.
 3. Download ConanSandbox\Saved\game.db. If game.db-wal or game.db-shm are present, grab those too.
 4. Open the file manager on your Conan Exiles Enhanced server (or use the Open Save Folder button in the migration dialog).
 5. Upload the file(s) into ConanSandbox\Saved\ on the Enhanced server.
 6. Start the Enhanced server.
 7. Confirm a new save is created, then join the server and verify the converted save.

If the Enhanced server already has a live save you want to preserve, back up its ConanSandbox\Saved\ folder before replacing any database files. The migration tool does this automatically when you use the in-panel path; manual uploaders need to do it themselves.

Isle of Siptah

Conan Exiles Enhanced does not use the separate Siptah dedicated-server map or the Siptah database file. If your active server is Siptah, move characters to Exiled Lands before migrating. The migration tool will refuse a Siptah source for this reason.

Mods

Legacy Conan Exiles mods are not automatically compatible with Enhanced. Check each Steam Workshop page for Enhanced compatibility before migrating a heavily modded server. If a mod is not yet updated for Enhanced, remove it before first startup or test the migration on a separate copy. See Installing Workshop Mods on Conan Exiles Enhanced for the post-migration mod workflow.

Rollback expectations

You can keep running the original Conan Exiles Legacy server from a Legacy backup or by ordering a Conan Exiles (Legacy) product, but you cannot take the converted Enhanced save and load it back into Legacy. Treat the first Enhanced startup as a one-way conversion of that copy.

Troubleshooting

 • Migration Tools button is disabled. Open the dialog and read the explanation — common causes are running source server, different machine, Siptah map, or an active panel task. Each one tells you the exact fix.
 • Save did not convert on first start. Stop the Enhanced server, confirm game.db is present in ConanSandbox\Saved\ on the Enhanced server, then start it again.
 • Server starts fresh with an empty world. Make sure the uploaded save is in the target Enhanced server's ConanSandbox\Saved\ folder, not a nested folder. Stop, fix the path, and try again.
 • Source and target are on different machines. Use the upload path above, or open a support ticket and staff can move the save manually.
