How to Create a Schedule I Server — Schedule I Server Setup Guide

This free Schedule I server setup guide walks you through creating a dedicated Schedule I server the fast way (with SurvivalServers) and the DIY way (self-hosted on your own hardware).

With SurvivalServers

Hosting your Schedule I server with us is effortless:

  • Click Order Now above
  • Enter a Username, Password and Email Address or sign up with Google/Twitch
  • Select your slot amount, datacenter, and billing cycle
  • Click "Order Now" and your Schedule I server is provisioned instantly with one-click control panel access

Without SurvivalServers

Running a Schedule I dedicated server yourself takes quite a bit more setup:

System Requirements

  • Windows 10/11 or Windows Server with latest updates
  • ~8GB of disk space for game files and world saves
  • ~2.5GB RAM per server instance (CPU-bound on single-thread performance)
  • Stable internet connection with the game port forwarded for UDP/TCP (default 38465) plus the Steam query UDP port
  • SteamCMD for headless installs

Installation

  • Install Schedule I via SteamCMD (App ID 3164500) on the normal/default branch. The game is not licensed for anonymous SteamCMD pulls — you will need a Steam account that owns Schedule I.
  • Install MelonLoader v0.7.2 into the game folder (the Unity mod loader that boots the dedicated-server mod).
  • Install the community-built DedicatedServerMod IL2CPP server build — drops a DLL into the Mods\ folder that turns the game into a headless dedicated server.
  • Add steam_appid.txt next to Schedule I.exe with 3164500 inside it.
  • Configure your router and Windows Firewall for the game port on UDP/TCP plus the Steam query UDP port.
  • Edit UserData/server_config.toml for hostname, max players, password, auto-save interval, and gameplay multipliers. Save data lives in UserData/DedicatedServerSave/.
  • Launch with "Schedule I.exe" --batchmode --nographics --dedicated-server -logFile -
  • Monitor the MelonLoader console for errors and share your public IP:port with players. Hosted/default-branch servers work with the normal Steam client.

Picking Mods

  • Schedule I dedicated servers run MelonLoader mods (DLLs under Mods\), not Steam Workshop content. Browse community mods on Thunderstore or the modding community Discord.
  • Drop the mod DLL into Mods\ alongside the DedicatedServerMod — MelonLoader auto-loads all DLLs in that folder on boot.
  • Most player-facing mods require both the server and connecting clients to have the same DLL, so clients need to install matching mods locally too.

Why Wait? Use SurvivalServers Instead

  • Instant provisioning on enterprise NVMe SSD hardware with DDoS protection across 8 global datacenters
  • Server config, save management, and gameplay settings through our custom Survival Servers control panel
  • Automated restarts, scheduled backups, and full FTP access on day one
  • We track new dedicated-server-mod releases and roll them out for you automatically
  • No SteamCMD wrangling, no port forwarding, no firewall rules, no Windows updates to babysit

Frequently Asked Questions about Schedule I Server Hosting

Our Schedule I dedicated servers support up to 20 players. The base game's built-in lobbies are capped at 4 players, but dedicated servers run the community-built DedicatedServerMod on the normal Steam branch, which lifts that cap. Players can connect directly to the IP and port shown in the control panel.

Launch the normal Steam version of Schedule I and use the in-game server browser, or direct-connect using the IP and port shown in your control panel. If you previously opted into the alternate beta, switch Beta Participation back to None before joining. Your server runs 24/7, so you and your crew can drop in any time without anyone having to "host" the session.

Yes. Schedule I uses MelonLoader for modding, and our dedicated servers ship with MelonLoader plus the community DedicatedServerMod pre-installed. You can drop additional server-side mods into the Mods folder using the in-panel File Manager or FTP, then restart the server to load them. Players still join with their normal Schedule I client.

Yes. The Server Config tool in your control panel lets you change the server name, pause behavior, day-night time multiplier, auto-save interval and triggers, mod-verification policy, and moderation lists (operators, admins, and bans by Steam ID). You can save changes with or without restarting the server, which is useful for tweaking settings while players are connected.

Yes. Schedule I supports both PC (Steam) and Mac, and players on either platform can join the same dedicated server. Multiplayer is online only, so a dedicated server is the most reliable way to keep a persistent session running for your group.

Schedule I is a multiplayer crime simulation set in the grungy city of Hyland Point. You start as a small-time dope pusher and work your way up to drug kingpin, manufacturing and distributing product, buying properties and businesses, and hiring employees to scale your operation. Hosting your own server is the cleanest way to keep a persistent empire going with your crew.
